Former Raiders Tight End Calls It a Career
Veteran tight end Darren Waller has announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons. The 31-year-old played for the Baltimore Ravens, Oakland Raiders, and New York Giants during his career.
Breakout Performance with the Raiders
Waller was originally signed by the Raiders off the Ravens' practice squad in 2018. He had a breakout season in 2019, catching 90 passes for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns. His performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection and helped the Raiders reach the playoffs.
Single-Season Receptions Record
In 2020, Waller broke the Raiders' single-season receptions record with 107 catches. He also had 1,196 receiving yards and nine touchdowns that season.
Retirement after Giants Trade
After five seasons with the Raiders, Waller was traded to the Giants in March 2023. He played one season with the Giants before announcing his retirement on Thursday.
