New PSNI drama 'Blue Lights' reflects the real-life challenges facing officers
Officers go undercover to fight criminal gangs in their own city
BBC One drama Blue Lights, which begins airing on Monday March 27, follows the lives of three PSNI recruits as they go undercover to fight criminal gangs in their own city.
The series has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the challenges facing police officers in Northern Ireland, and has been met with critical acclaim.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, actor Ciarán McMenamin, who plays one of the lead roles, said: "This is a really important story to tell. It shows the real-life challenges that police officers face on a daily basis, and the sacrifices they make to keep us safe."
The series was filmed on location in Belfast, and features a cast of local actors. It is produced by the independent production company, Mammoth Screen, and is the first PSNI-based drama to be commissioned by the BBC.
Blue Lights will air on BBC One on Mondays at 9pm.
